Safeway again!

4 Raisin Bran - 3.00/2 coupons
3 Frosted Mini Wheats - .70/1 coupons doubled
4 Capri Suns
1 Eating Right Pasta - 1.00/1 coupons
-$10 Catalina
Total $1.25 OOP
Earned $10, $5 and $1.50 Catalinas Good on my next purchase. :)

So since it cost me $10 + $1.25= 11.25 and I earned $16.50 in Catalinas.. they are paying me :)
I plan on doing a couple more similar trips which will allow us to stock up on mini wheats (which we like) and capri suns which DH drinks occasionally. In the end I expect to make ~$20 which I will use towards the next deal, more groceries or a Gift Certificate :)

Oh and I looked at my $10 Frosted Mini Wheat Rebate and its actually for a $10 Gift check towards a pharmacy or health and beauty purchase, so not really a rebate but still something I can use. I will send a 2nd one for my mom. She hasn't been feeling up to a lot of shopping lately, so I am taking care of this for her.

Question for you: What newspaper do you subscribe to? I get the AZ Daily Star, but I'm frustrated because several times I'll go to clip a certain coupon that's listed and my coupons don't have them. For instance, last night I was excited to do the Safeway cereal sale, but my Valassis didn't have any of the Kellogg coupons. Do you have any tips? Has this happened to you? I don't understand why all AZ papers woulndn't have the same coupons.
Thanks, Nae

Hi Nae,

You must be in Tucson? I am too and our paper sucks :) We just don't get the great coupons that phoenix does.. sometimes we get a few good ones, but I tend to trade for some when I know there is a deal coming up or when it's a product I HAVE to buy. So i traded for the mini wheats coupons. Also there is a printable one at smartsource.com for raisin bran, you have to answer a few questions and you can get $3/2 which is a pretty good coupon. If you answer post/other and at least 7 or more times a year, you will get the good value ($3/2). It will allow you to print it twice per coupon. I have access to a couple computers (family) so if its a good coupon, I will print more than 2. We aren't huge raisin bran fans, but will even just one of those printable and hte $3/3 saver coupon you get 7 boxes for $8 (only 2 have to be raisin bran if you only use one of the coupons) and you earn the $10 coupon, so still not a bad deal.

Oh and I am not sure there were any kelloggs coupons this weekend, but the safeway ad had a SUPER coupon on the front for 3/$3 (first 3 only) which includes the frosted flakes, raisin bran and frosted mini wheats, so maybe that is the coupon you are talking about? If you already tossed the safeway ad, there should be extra ones in the store (I picked up several copies to be able to do several deals in the next few days). Safeway should have copies from of Last Wed. and a DIFFERENT one from sunday.

KC-
Thanks for the tips! I am in Tucson and thought I was going crazy. I just moved here from Utah where you can order 5 Sunday papers to get 5 sets of coupons. I loved that deal and miss it alot. I love to stock up on good sales and find it more challenging now. I will grab extra "Explorer" newspapers when I see them around, so I usually have plenty of Valassis and P&G, but it's the smartsource I need to figure out how to get more of. Thanks again!

That stinks. Can you guys get the Arizona Republic down there? That's the paper with the better coupons, but I don't know if it's available in Tucson. We also have the Tribune here, and there are definitely fewer coupons in there. My mom gives me her inserts out of the Trib, and it's frustrating because it seems the coupons I want are always the ones that are missing. Have you guys ever used the coupon-clipping services, like Coupon Master or The Coupon Clippers? I have a few times, but not on a regular basis.

I'm putting all my bargain shopping info on a new blog I started called Getting Serious About Getting Out of Debt. I hope you'll visit me there!
