Online CVS Deal!

>> November 30, 2008

I placed an order last night for a christmas present! I am pretty sure the recipient doesn't read my blog much, so I feel confident posting here :) Basically I saved $25/$50 purchase, received free shipping and was able to use $20 in extra bucks!

The coupons I used I found here on SLICK DEALS.

Basically I ordered
Hamilton Beach Coffee Maker $41.99
(fillers to get to $50)
Sippy cup $6.49
CVS Baby Wipes $2.99
Subtotal $51.47
-$10 Automatic when you click front page link and sign in
-$10 Use code MASTERCARD (and pay balance with a mastercard)
- $5 Code MEDICARE
-$20 ECBS
Total (with tax) $10.64

This deal worked out great for me, I almost bought the black friday coffee maker, but I read some reviews that weren't super great. Anyway, luckily it occur ed to me last night that perhaps I could order one online (a better one) and take advantage of the coupon codes and also Extra care bucks. This is my first order from CVS online and I totally dig using ecbs online! Only the store issued ECBS I happen to earn yesterday showed up in my account though, so I am not sure about the rhyme or reason on which ones are available for use online.

Anyway, this worked out great for us, since I am trying to minimize our OOP christmas costs.

Fandango & Home Depot Movie Deal

>> November 28, 2008

The best deal for me today wasn't even a black friday one!

This deal has been going on for a little while now, although I finally able to get in on it today. Luckily our store just recently put out these special gift cards.

Basically there are special home depot gift cards that include 2 free fandango tickets. There are no fees on the gift card, but there is a minimum $25 requirement (unlike other home depot gift cards). Anyway, My mom needed to buy some gifts at home depot today, so I purchased (5) $25 gift cards and then used the gift cards to make her purchases... so free movie tickets. even if you don't need anything from home depot right now, it might be worth going over to pick up a few cards. We always have various projects going on that require a quick run in to grab supplies! The only catch.. the movie code expires at the end of January. We still 2 whole months to use them though!

Black Friday

I ran out again this morning with my mom. I actually didn't buy a lot today, I didn't think there were too many deals out there, plus I don't need to buy much more for christmas.

A few things I am excited about... $10 Pepboys gift card for being one of the 1st 50 people and we showed up after 6am (they opened at 5am)... we walked in grabbed a donut (Breakfast!) and my mom also had some free coffee. The only downside was the gift card can't be used until tomorrow, however it is good through feb. It is perfect timing for us, we had some rain these past few days and its clear that I need new window wiper blades! I will send Peter over tomorrow to grab some with our gift card :)

I also bought 2 $0.99 poinsettias from Lowes, which already make the house seem more festive!

Other than a few quick trips to Ulta (mom bought stocking stuffers) and walgreens to get some of there deals, we didn't do a lot of shopping.

Crazy CVS Turkey Day Run....

>> November 27, 2008

So can you tell I didn't cook today? We had dinner at Peter's parents house last night... with every turkey day trimming possible! Then we head to one of my grandma's for lunch today again with lots of goodies! Peter is busy making turkey soup right now for dinner tonight. I cooked a Turkey on sunday and we saved all the brown meat for the soup!

Anyway, so I dragged my mom to CVS at 7am this morning.. when my favorite one opens... to max both of our cards on the freebie deals. It was pretty awesome, we saw maybe 3 other people the entire time we were there, and only one seemed to be doing a few deals.

I ended up having to run back after lunch to fix 2 of my orders, my list below will reflect that.... Anyway, so here are the dirty details.

Order #1 My card
2 Bic Soleil Razors - $3 Qs
J&J lotion -$1 IP
1 Colgate Total - $1.50 IP
1 Loreal Lip Gloss- $1 MQ
1Sally Hansen Max Growth
1 Sally Hasen Nail polish - $3/2 Q
1 Covergirl Liquid Smoother - $1 MQ
1 Covergirl Powder Smoother - $1 MQ
** All Small and Mighty (turned out to be a SUPER expensive filler, that I later returned)

Total $7.48 on a gift card - $7.95 return for the all so actually... made $0.47 on the gift card in the end.
EARNED $11.98 (Bic), $5.79 (J&J), $2.99 (Colgate), $6.99 (Loreal), $3.79 (Sally), $7.99 (CG), $5.99 (CG)= $45.52 Total ECBS

** This was my only major blunder, I thought both Covergirl make ups were $7.99, but one was actually $5.99, so I was short ~$2 to use my ECBS, I grabbed the All detergent, misreading a sign.. thinking it was only $2.99, anyway, I realized my order was off, but since this was my first order, I was busy trying to check out with the rest of my order while double checking that all my coupons were scanned right... it wasn't until I was home that I realized the huge OOP cost was due to the laundry soap.. I returned it later and received $7.95 on a gift card, so in the end it will have helped my OOP gift card costs...
I also had to get the 2 Maybelline ECBS for my mom's 2nd order, they didn't print at all.

Summary of both cards... too lazy to separate it out :)
I walked in with $77.98 in ECBS between both cards
I ended up spending $4.02 in gift cards after counting in my return
Total Cost = $82 in CVS $ (ECBS and gift card)
I have $122.28 in ECBS
ECB Profit of $40.28 between both cards...

I am happy overall with my deal run, particularly after I ran back to fix my 2 little issues. I did end up with a few fillers, but overall still made out like a bandit!

CVS deals from this week...

>> November 21, 2008

I hit up CVS this week with my mom to finish up the Duracell battery deal. I wanted to post this before it ends, in case anyone out there didn't know about the deal. Basically if you spend $20 (or actually only $19.98) in Duracell batteries, you get $15 in ECBS back. You can do the deal 3 times. If you don't have any ECBS (free CVS money), or any CVS gift cards, its still a pretty good deal. You can buy 2 large Duracell battery packs on sale for $9.99 this week for ~20+ tax, and earn $15 back. You can then repeat the deal and use the $15 ECB you earned in the first transaction on the 2nd one, then you only pay $5 OOP, rinse and repeat again. Now if you have any duracell coupons from the newspaper or find any $5/2 CVS Duracell coupons in your store, you can do even better.
Here are my deals (of course being an AVID CVS deal seeker, I have Duracell coupons, ECBS and CVS gift card money to use.)

(No pictures.. sorry, I am such a slacker!) Oh and I did these deals on my card and my mom's card.

CVS Order #1
1 16-pack AAA Duracell $9.99 - .50 MQ
1 4-pack C Duracell $5.99- $1.50 MQ - $5/2 CVS Duracell Q
2 Glade Oil Refill $3.99
2 Glade Oil Night Lighter Warmer $6.99- 2 Free MQ wyb refill
-$2/10 CVS Q
-$15 ECB (from earlier this week)
Total $5.23 on a gift card..... and earned $10 ECB (glade) & $15 (Duracell)

Unfortunately this was $4 too high.. my free MQs were only entered for $5 and not $6.99, apparently the CVS Duracell $5 coupons screw up the registers and don't allow ANY Qs to scan higher than $5 after the Duracell one is deducted. I "sort of" knew about this issue from reading deals sites online already, but thought it only applied to large ECB values, so I made sure I had them scan my $15 ECB FIRST before any Qs. Unfortunately I didn't realize that it also screwed up any OTHER Qs in your order that are worth more than $5. The clerk was clueless on why this was happening, and a little frustrated with the situation, as was I. However, I couldn't come up with a good way to fix this and I am trying to let it go... $4 loss... since it was CVS gift card funds, there was no OOP loss, but still.. CVS $ is real $. Anyway... the rest of my orders went great, trying to keep that in mind!

#2
1 8-pack Duracell AA $5.99 - .50 MQ
1 8-pack Duracell C $9.99 - .50 MQ - $5/2 CVS Duracell Q
1 Glade Oil Refill $3.99
1 Glade Oil Night Lighter Warmer $6.99- Free MQ wyb refill
-$15 ECB
Total $0.49 on a gift card and earned $15 ECB (duracell) and $5 ECB (glade)

#3
2 4-pack Duracell C $5.99 - .50 MQs - $5/2 CVS Q
2 4-pack Duracell 9V $9.99 - .50MQs - $5/2 CVS Q
1 Glade Oil Refill $3.99
1 Glade Oil Night Lighter Warmer $6.99- Free MQ wyb refill
-$26 ECBS
Total $0.56 and earned $15 ECB (duracell) and $5 ECB (glade)

#4
1 8-pack AA Duracell batteries $5.99
1 8-pack C Duracell batteries $9.99- $5/2 CVS Duracell Q
1 Glade Oil Refill $3.99
1 Glade Oil Night Lighter Warmer $6.99- Free MQ wyb refill
-$15 ECB
Total $0.43 on a gift card

#5
4 8-pack AA batteries $5.99 each- 2 $5/2 CVS duracell coupons - 4 $0.50 Duracell MQs
1 Glade Oil Refill $3.99
1 Glade Oil Night Lighter Warmer $6.99- Free MQ wyb refill
-$15 ECB
Total $1.56 on a gift card, earned $15 ECB for Duracell and $5 ECB for Glade

I actually found 4 more CVS battery Qs, so I might "steal" my dad's CVS card and do another set of battery deals tomorrow. Unfortunately I don't have any ECBS to start with on his card, but I do have some CVS gift card $. I also noticed that the big $9.99 packs were sold out of my stores, so hopefully they have restocked recently.

Organic Bananas
3 Philadelphia Cream Cheese used the Albies B2G1 Free coupon.. charged 2.50 ****
- 6/30 Fresh and Easy
Total $5.40

** So... I didn't get all 3 of the cream cheese for 1.25... Frys has them on sale for $1.25 each, and there is a coupon in the albies ad for B1 G2 Free.. which should mean $1.25 for all 3, however, I have read online that some Frys are not honoring the coupon in that way, but rather charging $1.20 each (saving .05 off each package) because of albertsons is charging $3.xx for one. Anyway.. so my cashier read the coupon and only took off 1 free...which I didn't' realize at the time... (I was at self checkout.. so its hard to tell when doing coupons there..) however, given the way some frys are dealing with coupon, I still got a better deal. So $2.50 for 3, is better than Albies $3.60 for 3.

I had a great run at frys, saturday evening was pretty quiet in the store. I used self checkout, so I wouldn't hold up one of the only 2 open checkout lanes. The cashier was very patient scanning all of my coupons. He asked about the fresh and easy coupons, wanted to know where to get one, I told him, but ended up giving him an extra one when I was done.... good coupon karma! :) He was happy!

Walgreens was a bust for me. I didn't get to use the $5 off 20 coupon. I didn't see many great deals in the ad, although I did want to get some fabric softener sheets cheap, but unfortunately the FAR Loreal Item, that would help me get my order close to $20 was Out of Stock at all my regular stores. I did get a raincheck for the corn starch and baking powder at 2/$1, which will be free with the coupons from the paper last weekend.

I picked up a RX at CVS with a safeway $30 transfer coupon. I also got a raincheck for the listerine kids rinse for .99 each.. it was $3.99 with a $3 ECB this week.. and of course they were out. The raincheck is better though anyway.. because its a limit of 5, and now I can find 3 more coupons to match up with the 2 I already have!

99 cent only store.....
I stopped in to get a laundry basket, I am putting together a housewarming gift for my brother and his fiance. Basically lots of cleaning supplies, I will try and post a picture later if i get a chance. Anyway, I also found a couple super cute girly baby summer hats, toilet brushes , a swim shirt for quinnie next year and a couple of bins for organizing my pantry. The baby summer hats and swim shirt are target/circo brand and both are spf 50+!

Procrastination can pay off...

>> November 09, 2008

So I have only hit the frys once and I was disappointed because they were out of several things I wanted. I know I need to hit them up early in the morning, since they stock overnight. I meant to go this morning, but didn't. Anyway, in today's paper was a $10 off $50 coupon for safeway. Only good through Tuesday. But I can use it at Frys this week, since they are currently accepting competitors coupons! I actually saved a few of the coupons.. I hope to do at least 2 orders at Frys with the safeway coupon and maybe one at Albertsons, since they always take competitors coupons.

Also Bashas has SUPER doubles going on through Tuesday. Which means they will double up to 1.00 coupons. So .75/1 doubles to $1.50 and $1 doubles to $2. I plan on running over tonight to see if I can find any deals. :)

>> November 07, 2008

I had a great run at Frys.. depsite how many items were out of stock. I need to go early tomorrow after they stock again.
Anyway
3 cottonelle - .25 MQ (tripled)
3 Tylenol - 2.00 MQs
3 Arrowhead waters - .75/3 MQ doubled
2 Frys gallon milks
6 Carnation milk - .50/2 MQs (doubled)
3 Hefty ziplock bags -.55/2 MQs (doubled)
3 Oat meal (quick oats) - .50/1 MQs (doubled)
2 BC box potatos - .35 MQs (tripled)
2 Blueberry cartons (B1G1 free) - $1 Frys produce coupon
bananas
- $2/10 and $5/20 Fresh and Easy Coupons (Thanks Michelle!!!!)
Total $1.51 OOP (saved $73.31)...

Walgreens
4 Schick Quatro razors - 2 B1G1- 2 2.00 MQs - $3 ESR Q
8 Wrigley brand gums - B1G1 MQ - B1G1 Wag Q
2 Walgreens Foam plates .99 each
2 Walgreens Paper plates 1.50 each
Total $2.73 on a gift card.

I actually did the razor and gum deal already twice this week.. (not in the picture)

I was hoping for overage the first time, but the cashier wouldn't let me.. so I paid (with a gift card) more than I intended (I need to return the "overage" items)... and then yesterday she took the extra coupons, but somehow she did some crazy things with my gum coupons... and I went negative.. I should have had more stuff to cover any overage.. but I didn't, she fixed the gum thing... (when I pointed out that she forgot to ring them up).. which brought to the +.. however, only 2.xx and if I had her scan the Walgreens B1G1 gum coupon.. I would have went negative again... I figured that would freak her out..and decide to cut my losses... basically paid .49 for a cute "rock star" shirt for Quinn + tax on the razors and gum... so no big deal I guess.

Model Home Sale

>> November 06, 2008

Check out what we bought tonight. The stove was $304, I found it on a discount appliance site, for $885!
We found deals on all of our appliances when we remodeled a few years ago, but we ended up with all stainless steel with black accent appliances EXCEPT our stove, which was black. It didn't look bad, and we were not looking to replace it anytime soon, but we decided to jump on this opportunity. We hope to sell our black one on craigslist for $150, so offset the cost.

Oh and we bought the pretty picture too! We were at a model home sale. Basically a warehouse of furniture, pictures, lamps, etc from model homes.

$74 & 10% coupon!

>> November 02, 2008

I made $74 this weekend! I found a surprise $40 American express gift card in the mail on Saturday. It was from a survey I did about 2 months ago on formula. I totally forgot about it, so it was a great surprise!

In addition, I did a last minute mystery shop, that had a $15 bonus, and paid $19! So a $34 shop! I hadn't planned on doing it, so when they called and asked if I could do it for them, it was definitely a bonus!

There was a 10% off coupon for safeway in Sunday's safeway ad. It requires a $25 min. purchase and is only good until Tuesday, but still I'm not complaining. I am not a big fan of safeway, but albies always takes competitors coupons and frys has been taking them for the past few weeks, so I should be able to use it a few times.

I hit up albies for some of the good deals:

2 gallons of milk ($1.88 each)
6 dial soap ($1 - $0.30 (tripled))
2.19 lbs grapes $1.93
3.30 lbs bananas $2.28
5 avocados (2 for $1)
6 lbs fresh boneless/skinless chicken breast/tenders ($1.77/lb)
- 10% ($2.74)
- $12 OYNO coupons
Total $7.05 on a gift card.
