Updated Safeway Coupon Policy!

>> June 09, 2010

Wow check out what Kim over at Arizona Savings just posted!! An updated Safeway coupon policy directly from their website. She highlighted a few good changes including:

  • Coupon amount may be reduced so that any combined discounts and coupons do not exceed the value of the item. This means they can and SHOULD reduce coupons that exceed the price of the item... so whenever something is on sale for $0.99 and you have a $1 coupon, they can't deny using the coupon because of it beeping. They need to happily adjust the coupon down for you, so that you get it for free!

  • Safeway will accept valid manufacturer coupons that display another retailer’s logo or name. As Kim points out.. this is particularly nice when you find a cool tearpad somewhere that is a manfucturer's coupon, but lists frys, or another retailer on it. Sometimes stores like to deny your usage of them as if they were store coupons...

  • Safeway will accept valid Catalina manufacturer coupons that are issued to a customer by another retailer. <---- As Kim says HOLY COW! That is a good change... maybe safeway will become my new favorite store! I can stop worrying about letting Walgreens register rewards expire waiting for a good deal and just spend them at Safeway!!

Thanks Kim, check out her post about it HERE! And here is a direct link to the new policy on safeway's website. I did print it up and plan on bringing it with me... but of course having a printed coupon policy doesn't always mean my closest store will honor it... recall this adventure??

I read this last night on Cents'Able Shopping. I was totally excited too!!
I just wonder if the cashiers were given any training regarding the new policy.
